The Lady from the Sea is a sculpture standing by the harbor on the north pier. The 6.5 meter high sculpture is a "Janus figure" - that is, a two-faced mythological creature, which at one time symbolizes beginning and end, past and present, departure and return. It is the Norwegian artist Marit Benthe Norheim who, in collaboration with Sæby's children, has designed the sculpture.
The Sæby Museum is housed in the beautiful half-timbered building "Konsul Ørum's farm", which dates from the 1600s. The museum's exhibit contains images and effects from the long development of the market town. In the Middle Ages, the town was marked by the Carmelite order, which in the 1460s created a monastery in the city.
The Sæby mini-city is an exhibition where Sæby's houses are built in the size of 1:10. It is open all days of the week except Thursday and Saturday. You will find the mini-city at Solbæksvej 39 in soapby. There is free admission.
