Approaches
The port of Bäckviken can be called around the clock. If it blows heavily from a northeast direction, it can be difficult to enter the harbor. There may be heavy current flowing across the port inlet. There is a lively ferry service to and from Landskrona, which means that the ferry's heavy propulsion water makes the port more uneasy on arrival and departure. Show consideration for ferry traffic in the area. There is a speed limit of 3 knots in the harbor basin.

The port of Bäckviken is located on the Swedish island of Venn, which is located 4.5 km from the Swedish mainland and about 7.5 km from Zealand. The harbor is on the eastern side of the island. Venn used to be a Danish island, but became Swedish in 1660. About 360 people live on Venn.

Bäckviken harbor is a very nice harbor. A green local bus runs around Venn. The bus has no fixed stops, so if you want to take the bus, you have to stand at the roadside and wave to the driver. If you want to rent bicycles, there is a bike rental about 200 meters from the harbor. There is a small kiosk and barbecue bar right by the harbor.

There is no bank or ATM at Venn, so remember to bring Swedish cash.

Attractions

Tycho Brahe's castle and observatory, which is called Uranienborg, is located on Venn. Uranienborg was built around the year 1580. The castle has a geometric garden designed by Tycho Brahe. The inner garden had flowers and many herbs for use in medical research and in the household. The outer garden was possessed by fruit trees. Attempts have been made to reconstruct the castle garden according to Tycho Brahe's drawings and descriptions.
