Gisseløre Lystbådehavn

In the west of Zealand, the two glacial peninsulas Asnæs and Røsnæs jut out into Storebælt. Together they form the approximately 16 km long Kalundborg Fjord, which so well protects the natural harbour, Gisseløre - also known as Kalundborg Lystbådehavn. The harbour is well sheltered from all wind directions.

The barbecue area, located west of the clubhouse, is free for use by guest sailors. You can put rubbish in the containers at the environmental station. Barbecues are not allowed on the bridges or in the boats. Guest sailors can borrow bikes free of charge - the bikes are located under the half-roof in the equipment shed.

There is a petrol station about two kilometres from the harbour. However, diesel can be refuelled by arrangement with Vesthavnens Bådelaug in Vesthavnen

Sights

In Kalundborg Museum's garden (Adelgade 23) you can see a model of medieval Kalundborg. It is also possible to explore the medieval garden, where you can also enjoy food brought in from home.

The Church of Our Lady in Kalundborg is unique in the world. It is a five-towered church whose ground plan is a Greek cross, with each of the four arms of the cross terminated by a tower, and the fifth tower rising, resting on four granite pillars, above the centre of the church. The castle-like appearance of the church is not due to the fact that it was part of the city's defence, but it is meant to evoke The Heavenly Jerusalem, where, according to the Bible, God and man will dwell together in the end of time. In the Middle Ages, Terrestrial Jerusalem was imagined as a fortified city with five towers.
