Details

The port of Søby is located on the northwest coast of Ærø. The town is an old fishing village, but today there are only about 10 fishing boats left in the harbor. The marina offers modern facilities.

The harbor has several good places with benches and tables, where you can also barbecue. Right next to the marina there is a really good bathing beach that is regularly cleaned of seaweed and large stones.

There is a ferry connection to Faaborg and Funen Sea.

Søby Bådelaug has a home port in Søby Harbor & Marina.

Sevædigheder

Søby Mill is a so-called Dutch mill with a gallery. The mill was built in the year 1881 and has served as a grain mill. There is a nice view from the mill, where you can also eat your brought food at tables and benches. The mill is not protected. Most of the mill's furniture has been removed, but a single grinder remains in the mill.

To the east of Søby is Vitsø Nor. The area was originally a fjord, but the entrance closed in the 18th century and the drainage of the north began. Today the area has a large bird life and large grassland for cattle.
