Hjortø is the smallest inhabited island in the South Funen archipelago - around 15 people live here. The island offers rich animal and plant life as well as several child-friendly beaches.
The harbor offers extremely sparse facilities, here is only electricity, barbecue area and a toilet. There is a ferry to Svendborg.
Hjortø town offers old houses and farms from ancient times.
Hjortø is a flat island. The highest point of the island protrudes only 5 meters above the water surface. Therefore, there are dikes around the island. The dykes protect the island from being flooded by the sea.
