Iraklion

Iraklio is located on the northeast side of Crete. It can be hard to find a place in the old Venetian harbor that is filled with local boats. However, there is room for pleasure boats on one of the quays in the outer harbor. Sailboats tend to be housed at the dock below the "Port Police" building - located in the southwest corner of the outer harbor. It is advisable to call the port authorities before arrival to make sure there is room. Note that the quay is high with a limited number of bollards, and it can be difficult to get ashore. Most yachts use their inflatables to go ashore via the inner harbor. Water and electricity are available on the dock.
